Unforgettable Experience Flights

Take flight in the aeroplane that has become affectionately known as "The Poor Man's Spitfire", the de Havilland Chipmunk offers superb handling and a very graceful flight experience, earning its place in aviation halls of fame as a firm favourite.

The Chipmunk earned its notoriety through its service with RAF Air Experience Flights, where many a young Air Cadet sampled their first taste of the air.

Strap in and find out for yourself why the Chipmunk is such a dearly loved aeroplane.

Your experience will begin with a classroom briefing where you'll be made familiar with aircraft procedures and safety, you'll also be able to ask any questions you have about the flight. Form there you'll be taken to the aircraft where your pilot will help you in and conduct some checks prior to start up. If you have friends or family with you they can accompany you right up to the aircraft and take as many photos as they like.

Once in the aircraft you'll be equipped with a headset that will let you and your pilot talk and left you hear all the radio between your aircraft, the Fenland Tower and other aircraft.

Your flight will last between 20 minutes and 60 minutes (times are from when the brakes are released to taxi to when the are reapplied to park), taxiing times wont account for more than 10m of your experience and are often much less.

If there are places you'd like to overfly, fly high, fly low, turn gently or turn steeply your pilot will do their best to accommodate you.

On your return we can escort friends or family back to the aircraft so they ca get photos of your enormous grin!

Following the same format of as the Classic Experience but combined with the thrill of your friend or family in another Chipmunk in close formation. You'll be close enough to take picture of each other and even see each others smile and waves.

Your Chipmunks will take off just seconds apart and form up as they climb away. Each aircraft will get a chance to be the formation lead and formation wing.

If your friends or family aren't as in love with the idea of a Formation Experience as you are, we'll try and match you with another aviator in the same situation. If that's not possible you can purchase a Formation Add On for all or part of your flight, in this case the 2nd aircraft may not have a passenger but will be entirely deveoted to entertaing you in formation.

Generally height limitations can be managed. The maximum weight our Chipmunk can accommodate is 101kg (16 stone).

General mobility should be good to be able to climb over the side and get in.
